Favorite Dance: All of them!

Titles: 7 time UCWDC World Champion, Rising Star Rhythm Champion, Open Rhythm Champion, Showdance Champion

Growing up in his mother’s dance studio in Alabama, Rex began his love and passion for dance at the young age of 2. His mother had him in dance classes for many years, but he couldn’t stay away from other sports like baseball and football. Rex learned a lifetime of knowledge from his mother about the dance business but never saw it as a probable profession. In his 20’s Rex slowly became interested in country dancing after frequenting Bama’s finest honky-tonks. In 1994 Rex decided to go back to his roots and take on dancing professionally. Country dance took a hold on Rex and he traveled all over the world - including Japan, England, the Netherlands, South Korea, and Germany - teaching and competing. During this time, he was invited to be the co-choreographer of Taylor Swift’s “Love Story” music video and performed with her at the Country Music Awards.

Rex had great success competing in pro-am and professionally. After 7 professional world titles in the UCWDC, he decided to make a change from country dance and focused on ballroom dancing. Rex has had many accomplishments in ballroom including numerous pro-am world titles, Top Teacher awards, Top Studio awards, and he has coached many national and world title holding amateur couples. Rex’s love and passion for the business shines through in the quality of his (spirited) instruction and dance as well as his staff that he’s trained at Jones Dancesport.
